DAY TO DAY ITINERARY

Map route of tour

Map route of tour.

Day 1 - Milano to Lake Como +

Participants meet at the Milano Linate airport in the early afternoon. This provides an opportunity to join the tour right after your arrival at the airport. However, we suggest that you arrive one or more days before the start of the tour to give yourself a good amount of time to adapt to the time zone (Italy is 6 hours ahead), and enjoy a visit to the eclectic city of Milan, famous for its fashion and shopping districts, great restaurants, La Scala Taeatro dell’Opera, the Galleria and the Duomo. From the airport, we depart for Lago di Como where we have a welcome dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2 - Bellagio, Varenna, Lake Como +

This morning, we follow an expert local guide to explore the historical villages of Bellagio and Varenna. They are referred to as “the pearls of Lake Como” due to their beauty, romance, and many gardens and villas. This is an easy two-hour walking tour. After lunch, we leave the lake and head north towards the Alps.

Day 3 - In the Heart of the Alps: Valtellina Wine Region +

After check out, an easy drive will bring us to an Alpine valley well-known to wine lovers: Valtellina. The local Nebbiolo grape, known locally as Chiavennasca, births the best wine appellations of the region, including Valtellina Superiore and Sforzato (an Amarone-style red wine made from partially dried grapes). We visit a local winery and sample their production. Lunch today is at a local trattoria where we taste the local food specialties. It is important to experience and understand the work that goes into the making of these wines from steep-terraced hills (Valtellina is a recognized UNESCO World Heritage Site). We continue to drive through the enchanting Apline landscape and arrive in the region of Trentino, in the famous Val di Non (the apple valley!) and check in to our hotel.

Day 4 - Trentino and Lake Garda +

After breakfast, we check out and visit an amazing winery, one of the best known in the area. Explore the Trentino region driving through picturesque Alpine areas to vast vineyards where we will sample the local wine made with many grape varietals. Following the east coast of Lake Garda, we drive south and arrive at our next hotel. A beautiful wine resort in the Valpolicella. We are now in the heart of Veneto’s best wine regions, which we will proceed to visit over the next few days.

Day 5 - In the "valley of the many cellars" +

Valpolicella (“the valley of the many cellars”) is the most important wine region in Veneto. Today, we learn all about its wine production and techniques, climate, and cuisine. We discover why Amarone wine is so popular, why locals dry the grapes to produce it, and what they like to eat with it. Valpolicella includes three valleys carpeted with vines that run north to south. The three main grapes of this area (Corvina, Molinara and Rondinella) produce a complexity of wines ranging from dry to sweet, light to full body, and rosé to dark red. We then set our compass west and visit Lake Garda and a couple of its jewel villages: Sirmione and Bardolino.

Day 6 - Cooking in Valpolicella +

Today we have a day at leisure where we can relax and be pampered at our wine spa resort. We then gather as a group in the kitchen and learn, chop, cook side-by-side with a Chef. Enjoy the fantastic resulting meal paired with wine.

Day 7 - Verona: Bubbles and Love +

From Lake Garda, we head east. Time to visit Verona! An easy two-hour walk with a local guide will give you a nice introduction to this unique town and enlighten us on the secrets of Romeo and Juliet, the Arena and the Roman origins of Verona. We drive north east to the region of Friuli and check in to our hotel. We drive by immense wine hills where the Prosecco (Glera) grape is grown and the best sparkling wine is produced.

Day 8 - The Real Prosciutto DOP +

You cannot sip Prosecco without a taste of the local Prosciutto! Therefore, we will bring you to the small village of San Daniele where the local prosciutto is cured, stocked and then distributed to the world. Friuli-Venezia Giulia is one of the smallest regions of Italy, one of the least touristic and of of the richest. Sea, mountains and hills. Wine and food products, culture and events. Cities of art and history are just a few treasures we will discover. How about learning about grappa today...? How about sampling a few? You will learn to appreciate this important part of Italy's northern culture.

Day 9 - Architecture and wine +

After breakfast, we depart for one of the most important UNESCO site for art and architecture lovers. Villa di Maser from Italian architect Andrea Palladio. Our guide will enlight us with the various historical moments and artistic flavours that made this region famous among conosseurs. The we head into the Prosecco appellation territory and sample amazing local products at lunch.

Day 10 - Venice: End of Tour +

After breakfast at the hotel, we will transfer to the Venice airport where all participants are free to organize the rest of their vacation as they wish. Ask us to build a post tour itinerary tailored just for you!

There's a whiff of Paris in Torino's elegant tree-lined boulevards and echoes of Vienna in its stately art nouveau cafes, but make no mistake – this elegant, Alp-fringed city is utterly self-possessed. PRE-TOUR No.2 - TWO DAYS IN MILANO +

Since Leonardo da Vinci broke all the rules in his stunning Last Supper, the indefatigably inventive Milanese seem to have skipped straight from the Renaissance to the 21st-century. Not only is Milan a treasure trove of 20th-century art, but art deco and rationalist architecture abound. Today the city leads the way with the largest post-war re-development in Italy, impressive, sustainable architecture and a futuristic skyline modelled by Zaha Hadid, Daniel Libeskind and César Pelli.

post-tour No.3 - 2 DAYS IN VENICE +

Imagine the audacity of building a city of marble palaces on a lagoon – and that was only the start.

Never was a thoroughfare so aptly named as the Grand Canal, reflecting the glories of Venetian architecture lining its banks. At the end of Venice’s signature waterway, the Palazzo Ducale and Basilica di San Marco add double exclamation points. But wait until you see what’s hiding in the narrow backstreets: neighbourhood churches lined with Veroneses and priceless marbles, Tiepolo’s glimpses of heaven on homeless-shelter ceilings, and a single Titian painting that mysteriously lights up an entire basilica.

POST TOUR No.4 - 2 DAYS IN BOLOGNA +

Fusing haughty elegance with down-to-earth grit and one beautifully colonnaded medieval grid, Bologna is a city of two intriguing halves. One side is a hard-working, high-tech city located in the super-rich Po valley where suave opera-goers waltz out of regal theatres and into some of the nation's finest restaurants. The other is a bolshie, politically edgy city that hosts the world's oldest university and is famous for its graffiti-embellished piazzas filled with mildly inebriated students swapping Gothic fashion tips.
